Sometimes i think about how it would be if i you make a solo career. Just you and your guitar. Singing about some serious stuff while playing along with the guitar. Although i know this becomes boring, i think it can also be a nice variation to the ordinary band playing. There's is one guy that really inspired me to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXRwplFTh_Y
I first saw him playing this song in the film "Once" and then i grabbed my guitar and wrote some simple songs like he does.
My father has always been intersted in jazz music and over the years he became a real fan of this unconventional, independent art. Although i almost only like rock music some songs are nice to me, too. Like this guy. Maybe my father and me will go to a Nils Wülker concert / jam session / rehearsal or how you call such performances.
At the beginning of this year i really got to know Pearl Jam. I just knew "Do the Evolution" and had never listened closely to this valuable piece of music and that damn good band. As i was in an pub in the city and everything seems to go wrong that day. They played "Alive" and this song totally spoke out, what i was feeling. From that moment on, i began to hear Pearl Jam over and over again. Got me a concert on DVD (Live in Chile, Santiago 2004) and i like them more and more. My favorite Songs are:
Alive (just dance and sing) Betterman Black (best live) Crazy Mary (live in santiago, chile [Boom Gaspar's solo]) Do the Evolution (especially the middle part: "Admire me, admire...") Even Flow Faithfull Immortality (live in santiago, chile [best les paul solo ever]) In My Tree ("Wave to all my friends, yeah") Insignificance (super drum breaks) Jeremy (MTV unplugged Version [incredible bass line]) Yellow Ledbetter (awesome guitar solo)
And when i heard that Eddie Vedder wrote the songs for the film: "Into the Wild" i had to have this film. Know i realize, that this band had much influence on my style of singing, guitar playing and songwriting. I have made progress and i like this new mixture of my style
Finally i'm quasi in a band: Ca. 25 years ago my father was in a band called "Mephisto". They played good classical rock music with influences from Neil Young to Pink Floyd (my dad had a wem copycat echo...) As they became really good (almost semi-professionel), they broke up, because of personal reasons (family, work, etc.).
And now the drummer of this band asked my father when they will rehearse the next time. But instead of the original singer & rhythm guitar player they want me . So, my father root out his echo effect and since july he and me are practising the old songs by hearing the 25 year-old records and trying to reconstruct what they played then.
When we think we're ready we will call the others and rehearse in the basement of the drummer until we can perform in front of the biker club the drummer is a member of As soon as i've recorded a rehearsal i will upload it here.
P.S.: Oh, I forgott: the name of this new constellation is "Peace of Mephisto".
Only two weeks ago i afford myself a recording interface. It's a M-AUDIO MobilePre USB.
This external USB soundcard is very handy and has many features. With it i've got new spirit to keep on recording my ideas as long as there's no band in my life...
The first songs i've captured with it, are also my first single-track recordings. Because this wonderful interface can handle 2 signals simultaneously, i can play guitar while i'm singing, what makes me feel like i'm on a real performance
You can check out my first steps with this new device here. The first song i recorded with it is called "Schäfchen" and is dedicated to my ex-girlfriend!
I hope somebody listen to it and maybe someone likes it...
Note: There are going to be further uploads of my own songs. As i mentioned in the second last blog, i'm going to change and i think making my own songs public is a good first step
Back in 2003 i was on his concert in Krefeld, Germany. There wasn't a big audience, but or definitely that made the whole concert look very familiar.
When it was over, he came to the stand, where they sold his albums to sign them. My father bought an album for me and talked to Mr. Trout. He told him, that i was just beginning to learn playing guitar, not with notes or lessons, but self-taught. After Walter heard that, he signed me the album with the words:
As a sign for change and to get some feedback, I'm gonna concentrate more on my own songs instead of just uploading covers here. (I will continue uploading covered songs )
So far i have wanted to wait with my song ideas until i'll have a band, because i've thought that most of them wouldn't sound. But there are some i cannot keep back from you
In the last Christmas days I got to know a very special girl She is very deep and she is captivating me! Because she is from Switzerland and lives currently in Stuttgart, it's hard be with her and solve her mystery.
Today I'm here. I saved all my money to visit her. But something's strange. Maybe I promised myself too much...
