Hey man, I just wanted to thank you, I've finally got the screaming thing down, it sounds great and It doesn't hurt. Can't wait to finally get it implemented into some songs!

Cheers,
Scott

well doing the scream rasp properly you end up knocking loose a lot of the phlegm/saliva that coats your throat and vocals so you need to keep some water on hand to keep your throat coated.

I see. One more question, does your adam's apple move when you scream? Mine doesn't go particularly far up or down, it's just kind of moves into a position when I'm readying to scream. Is that bad?

well, as for feeling "dry" the only thing i can really ask is "do you drink enough fluids" i know when i do screaming consistently for a period of time i have to keep drinking fluids otherwise my throat will get dry and i'll start to lose the rasp and are you screaming from the diaphragm? can you hold it for more than a second or 2?

Yeah I can hold it for quite awhile. Drinking does help, and if you have to drink I'm sure it's not a problem. I just wasn't sure if it would be a sign of wrong technique if I was dependent on a botte of water, you know?

Hiya! I've been practicing screaming, and I'm quite confident I'm on the right track. I don't feel any pain while screaming. BUT, it does get to feeling a little "dry" for lack of a better word. Not sore. I don't have to push very hard to get the scream going. Ofcourse I'm using my diaphram and my throat is relaxed, BUT, it feels like my throat is definitely involved in making the sound.

Also, I'm mostly a clean singer, but I mix screams in as well, and when I do screaming it usually makes my "above the pencil" singing voice sound more full. It doesn't effect it in a bad way. But it can make my voice more apt to "crack" (like in puberty) if I'm not ready to sing the next note... if that makes any sense. So basicly like I said I don't feel pain while screaming, but it does cause dryness and sometimes almost a HINT of very faint scratchiness, but it never lasts.

I just want to make sure I'm doing it right, and maybe see if you have any tests or things to look for to insure that I'm screaming correctly.

Ah. Yeah, it's awesome how writing a song is so much more than just a succession of notes and how they're placed. I figured the song would have taken more than 13 hours. Maybe I just write slowly? haha. I don't like people that can only listen to a song that's 3-4 minutes long.

Cool, I'll be sure to check back in a few days. Do you do all the piano stuff on Top of the world? Or is that Midi?

I gotta say, even though the music you write isn't exactly my cup of tea (I listen to classical mostly, and a bit of classic rock), Top of the World is amazing. I'm gonna download it once I get home. Reminds me of romantic-era stuff. I liked the other tracks too, but this one is my fave. Anyways keep at it. I'll give that east west studio thing a try because I've been meaning to experiment with strings in addition to classical guitar, and should have some music up soon.

thanks for listening, glad you like the tunes. i dig your music its somewhat 80's laid back rock mixed with a bit of surreality. i'd really like to hear some of it with a bit more production into it (more realistic drums and maybe some layered guitars to bring out the sound) just my 2 cents, take it easy!
thnx man appreciate it.....i agree i have a lot to learn on production stuff fer sure and would like to very much

you might need to cough after screaming, try not to cough too hard though. all that mucus is whats creating a good rasp. if you do cough it up then drink some water and wait a few, truth be told i think the professionals if they cough on stage they swallow that funk back down their throat. i dunno how "girly" you are, but if you can swallow it then do it! keep that mucus in your throat!

ok thanks! i was just asking because i thought the coughing was because i was doing it wrong. well i guess ill just have to swallow then......omg that sounded wrong :p
