I'm getting too lazy to practice guitar these days *sigh*, what do you do to stay motivated??? Oh and I found out they have a recording studio of sorts at my school, which I plan to take advantage of.

seeing steve vai, joe satriani and paul gilbert play motivates me. like i want to reach their skill level. recording also helps. [/quote]
i would have to say learning a song that you really like, that way you will want to get better so you can show off your amazing skills to all your friends. ;)
I always just listen to lots of different stuff, it always gives me motivation to play some styles that may be considered 'outside of my comfort zone'.
I mean, I just downloaded an Acid Bath album, and I love them. Sludge Metal rules! You can tell what I'll be playing for a while.
So yeah, just try LOTS of different stuff and keep your musical mind open. For example, I have everything in my collection from Bethlehem, Gogoroth, etc, to The Cat Empire, Richard Cheese, even Ambient and Symphonic. There's nothing wrong with having a taste of every flavor.
