Let's talk about something interesting.
Has anyone noticed that pop music is basically electronica?
In a way we have Lady Gaga to thank for that. Back when she was being signed and dropped by record companies in 2007 and 2008, she was often rejected for her sound, being told that pop does not equal dance. Dance music was not going to sell.
Slowly heavy bass and digital manipulation/distortion of instruments (often to a 4/4 tempo) is slowly making its way into the alternative genres of music too, for example: dubstep.
