I think the line between playing an instrument is blurry...
a lot of people play instruments but don't really take it up because they love it, but rather because it's the "cool" thing to do nowadays, and you have to admit, it actually is.
I consider Ultimate-guitar to be really more of a music-appreciation site rather than one for muscians strictly. I think the question would be, if you don't listen to any form of music whatsoever, then why are you here?
becaus it's also a music community. S&L doesn't require you to play guitar. B&A doesn't either.
sure, I don't like that people use this like another myspace, but I think in my time, I've only come across 2 users that have never played guitar, bass or drums. but I think they've played some sort of instrument before. so I don't really care.
I don't especially come here because I play the guitar, i.e, I don't need advice on guitar issues, having played for nearly thirty years, one would hope I'd know my stuff by now. I'm also in a fairly well known band, well, we did the theme tune for The Sopranos (gosh, it's so quiet in here, you could hear a name drop), but not many people here have heard of us, so it's not for the adulation. I guess I come here for intelligent discussion, spending most of my time in the Religion/Philosophy thread, or the Creationism v Evolution thread. On a side note (sorry, that was a dreadful pun), can you sing? I'm always looking for new people to work with/produce. If you've a half decent music software package, it's quite easy to work with people via email, anyway, just a thought. Jesus, this is a long message. Bye for now. :-p
Phenomenal....I've wondered at times myself....I ain't great but I'm havin' fun....there are a lotta players way better than I and maybe a few not as good. But really, who cares? After all it is just the internet and reality happens in practice and recording rather than in stating one's skill level for others to oooo and AAhhhh at. BTW, cool party pics...youth is such a great thing...everyone gets to be cute....like doberman puppies....sigh.
