I close my eyes to end the day
And wish only to fall away
To dream that you’re still here
The way you made my heart race
Finally I’m drifting out to sea
Because crying takes so much out of me
I fall asleep as silent as your voice
And as dead as the touch of your face
Would you hold me?
Would you sing?
Would you tell me everything
(Is going to be all right)?
There’s a deadly silence locked inside:
The ghosts of things I try to hide
The only friends I have
The only ones that never leave
The silent sorrows of a lonely heart
Built to break right from the start
You thought you were meant to change it all
But you I could never believe
Wasted wishes
Tainted treasures
All spent on what cannot be bought
Visions for vices
Longings for lusts
Prices paid for things that were nothing like I thought
And they say we’re meant for more
Than failed attempts to fly
But tonight, would they remember the one
born with no wings or tears to cry?
Would they know the insurrection
Deep inside my heart?
Stop and think: did you know the one
Love built to break apart?
It’s not the tears or the darkness
What hurts is that I reach my farthest
And yet I still can’t understand
What I’m doing here.
It’s poetry in motion:
The deepest strength of my devotion
Is not enough to hold tight to
The ones that drove away the fear
(At least I thought you…)
Nothing lasts
No one’s here
Wake me when I can breathe again
Give you forever
Mistrust you always
I’ll be here when you need me
I’ll be sleeping cold until then
And they say we’re meant for more
Than failed attempts to fly
But tonight, would they remember the one
Born with no wings or tears to cry?
Would they know the insurrection
Deep inside my heart?
Stop and think: did you know the one
Love built to break apart?
Would you hold me?
Would you sing?
Would you tell me everything
(Is going to be all right)?
Lie beside me
Feel my heart beat
I’ll try to keep it warm for you
Just to belong to you one last night
And they say we’re meant for more
You never know unless you try
But tonight, would they remember the one
Who never let them see him cry?
Would they know the insurrection
Deep inside my heart?
Stop and think: did you know the one
Love built to break apart?
I’ll try to keep warm for you
Just to belong to you one last night…
And they say we’re meant to find
The one to fill this hole
But honesty’s a danger
To which my heart won’t be sold
I won’t let you inside me
I’m only here to play my part
Then I’ll be silent as your voice…
Cold as your touch…
Don’t offer me your promise
You’re asking far too much
Don’t try and stop the bleeding
You’ll only break my heart
Life is calling
You have my blessing
Don’t lose your love to the one
Love built to break apart.
