The acoustic trio I'm in - The Dicemen - have made a recording of an original song written by our singer and guitar|mandolin|bouzouki player Richard. It's called One Last Throw Of The Dice, and we are all really pleased with it! I'll post a clip soon!!
I've played single numbers twice over at a fabulous local event - the Watford DialUp and the wonderful MC / compere / mainman Alex invited me to do a slot at the April event!!! So I played :
I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues (Elton John) Hymn To The Grace (Roddy Frame) What's So Funny About Peace Love & Understanding (Nick Lowe)
I've finally begun to conquer nerves - still dreadful mind you, but I can feel the worst of it easing slightly. It's taken me too long to get to this point but believe me if I can do it then there is every chance anyone can! If anyone is reading this and contemplating performing but nerves are holding you back, I hope you find the courage to do it!!
I've been invited to join a fabulous setup called The Dicemen. Having got the nod, we've now rehearsed three times and we are just about good to go with some open mics!!
We are playing original material, folk with a wry lyrical twist, some wonderful Gypsy tunes, and a slew of new wave / indie covers including Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The Coral, Stereophonics, Wreckess Eric etc.
My Adele 'Someone Like You' transcription went through the 1 million downloads threshold last night!! Thank you to everyone who has viewed it, and especially to those who have taken the time to rate it, and even more to those who have taken the time to write to me! Ultimate Guitar has been great for me, it's made me learn and work harder on my music. Even at 49, I feel there is soooooo much more to learn and enjoy!
I also uploaded one more transcription this week - U2's "Stay (Faraway, So Close)" - specifically the acoustic workout they played at Glastonbury which mesmerised me. It's become a national pasttime to knock U2, but I love watching those 4 working a stage together. There appears to be genuine empathy and bonding between them, and they know how to deliver!
I've made it to full member! Thank you to anyone who has visited / downloaded / used / rated anything I've done! I like finding songs that no-one else has transcribed and uplaoding them, and the feedback can often be really educational and / or entertaining!
Having assumed I could never get to a standard where I could upload a tab and get it accepted, I've now managed three! I was particularly pleased to get Home Again by Edwyn Collins up. It's a wonderful song, I feel I've done a very accurate job with it, and no-one else had a tab up for it already!
Happy playing, tabbing, listening, gigging, whatever it is you're up to!
