I find it very annoying when people dismiss "mainstream" music for the sole purpose of it being mainstream.I've actually heard people say "I stopped listening to them because a lot of other people started to like them". FUCK. THAT.   Music shouldn't be judged and dictated based on how many people are listening to it...Listen to music that you like, if it becomes popular, just be happy for that band and its success.AAAANNNDDD!!! don't go around judging people that listen to a band that's mainstream, when you know in your heart that you openly liked them last week...Who cares if you're edgy or ahead of the game...you just look like a douche bag to me

I think my rant is over now.

I know what you mean, and I agree. Music is music. Although I don't enjoy mainstream music, but because I dislike the music itself. To me, bands who are nothing but tools to a producer don't really appeal to me. I think a lot of people dislike a band when they're popular because at that point they may start selling their image instead of the music.

totally agree. Just because a band is able to reach out to many people, it doesn't mean that they are "in it for the money" or are "sellouts". Of course, many artists have monstehits created just for making money, but I think that when it comes to bands becoming more popular all of a sudden, it might just as well mean that they are growing musically... Anyway, if their music still touches you, then why care if many others like it aswell? Music isn't like people, just because it touches many of us, you can't write it off as slutty:P
