I'm still refinishing my GRG170DX, but after about a year and a half I feel like it should have been done by now, so I need to start working on it again (especially since waiting longer also means loosing the advantage of being able to work in the summer).

The original plan was to let a friend of mine finish it, but since then we both graduated from high school and rarely ever see each other.

Rather than having a half finished guitar lying about somewhere, I figured finishing it myself would be a good idea. I'm still slightly undecided on the color; yellow would be cool, but i already have two yellow guitars.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the color scheme of the Ibanez PGM100 (pink and blue), although I don't know if I can pull it off

Anyway, thanks for the advice and I'll keep you posted should it ever get done

That Steve Vai vid is great and if I'm completely honest, that cheesy video is part of the reason why I want one (that and the fact that it's only 200$). Who can resist a clip where Vai calls himself a wanker?


The graphic on my Jackson is sort of an 80's pop art thing; I've always had a thing for 80's stuff (including bright yellow by the way ). It's inspired by Patrick Nagel's work, who liked Japanese style art , so yes, it does have a Japanese feel with an 80's look.


By the way, could you tell me how you finished your Jackson (especially the clear coat)?
