I hate censorship. what is the government doing, running out that note in that song? why can't my station play John Lennon? why isn't there that song about the New York Cops on my bloody Strokes album?!
so at my job, they have blocked Youtube. they have blocked iTunes. they have blocked Pandora. they have blocked Yahoo Music.
I was quiet about it. but now, I can't hear music on UG. that really ticks me off. I wanted to hear new tracks from my inter-friends bands! I'm in charge of an album for the Drum Forum Rebellion. unless they e-mail them to me, I can't listen to them. why?
and I understand doing this for a job, but these computers are for recreation. they blocked all music for everyone. why? nobody goes on the computer just to hear music. and if they do, does it really matter? will you lose money? sheesh.
I of course, will never tell them that. I'll get fired. but really... why? it's unimportant.
Because people dont want to walk into a store with some kid blasting teh brutal metalz.
Honestly, thats life. Everything gets censored one way or the other.
Too true, but we (the populace) have demanded that rights be protected, including rights to property and workplace control. That being said, it has gone too far in most places these days.
Really, it's more about bandwidth than anything, but you're killing two birds with one stone - saving cash while keeping employees focused.
However, this reminds me of the time my friend told me when he was at a computer lab at his college, the 40+ year old Indian gentleman with a moustache was watching hardcore porn with the volume cranked as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
