I have a Carvin X100B and a Mesa Mark III both. The Mesa is chunkier and far more modern. It can get a Carvin style lead tone - but it cannot emulate itīs clean channel. The clean channel on the X100B is just amazing, I only wish the lead channel was a bit deeper voiced. quote |

Hey man,
i just have one more querstion about the caliber, at the gain at 10(maxed out) does it clean up well?
i really want a clean tone like jason becker in this vid
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RJR0Hm3WIrI&feature= channel_page
can this amp achieve this?
or even close?
the vid on youtube are not the best. i seen a dc-5 video with great tone from it but im not 100% sure if ill get the same out of the 50+cal. |
you should be able to. becker used a Carvin X100B, which has a similar layout, but is not as aggressive as a Mesa. Either way, you should be able to get a clean sound like that. your lead channel may not be super brutal high gain, but it'll still be pretty thick.
