Due to insufficient funds and time the "heading into a studio in april" thing didn't go as planned. I wrote four songs with lyrics but due to various resons only had time to record one, without vocals. It works pretty well as an instrumental though. I'm now planning to record the whole album at the end of the summer and self release it through various sites (go UG maretplace).
The recorded song has however been uploaded to the site.
I added the song I mentioned in my "studio report of sorts" blog. Aside from the horrid vocals it turned out pretty well and trust me, I can sing alot better than that.
If you check out the Byzantine Blue page you'll see that we've recorded a song and uploaded it to our profile. It's a pretty darn good song. Check it out!
I've been recording as song latley. It's the softest, most acoustic peace I've ever written. It even features me singing! I'm now done and overall happy with the result apart from some vocal lines that should have been dubbed. I'm currently mixing it and is allmost done with a dry mix. As soon as ready I'll post it up here so stay tuned. Check out the picks:
I miked up my Framus cab using two Shure SM57's. One just straight on-access and the other angled. I double tracked everything. The end result was pretty good.
For lead sound I ocasionally used a Rode condenser mike (this isn't how the mikes were setup).
Here's my trusty Ibanez RG570 which will hopefully get a pair of Swineshead pickups stuffed into it soon.
Here's the software and hardware I used: Decent VAIO Laptop Steinberg MI4 soundcard Random MIDI Keyboard Cubase 3SX HAlion 3 VST sampler
I haven't got any pics but I recoded acoudtic guitar using some kind of Ibanez V series guitar miked up with the rode condenser I aslo used for singing.
