chokmool wrote on Dec 7th, 2009 9:49ami didn't want to take up space on the thread, but an oxymoron is about conflicting words, like--jumbo shrimp. A paradox is seemingly conflicting concepts, that can have similar or equal results. I know, it doesn't really matter, I knew what you meant. I see you have some songs up, I'll listen when I have more time. quote |

turtlewax wrote on Sep 11th, 2009 11:12pmYou can't "play the relative minor" at all, there's no such thing. If the chord progression resolves to C major then the notes C D E F G A B, in any order, are the C major scale - even in the order A B C D E F G.

I think that although you are essentially right, your just gonna confuse people who are just starting out with this explanation.

Mix Master wrote on Aug 21st, 2009 7:37pmHello, Thank you for the pickup suggestions/advice in my thread! I just got my HBFH and Norton in the mail today. Still looking for suggestions on a single coil in the middle on a 5 way. quote |

zhilla wrote on Jun 24th, 2009 11:56amHow are you still arguing with leafarmusic?! Have you not started getting random urges to throttle somone or dress up as a chicken and run around the streets shouting 'the bicycle's shining on my knees' at the top of your voice? I must say - I'm impressed by your staying power! quote |

XxGibsonSGxX wrote on Jan 30th, 2009 10:16pmI think it was JLT... who told me that her favourite combo was an HS-3 in the bridge, an HS-2 in the middle, and a YJM in the neck. Can you shed any info on that configuration in relation to what my needs are? If you have any other suggestions, I will definitely look into them. I appreciate any help you can offer me, as I'd rather not end up buying something that won't serve me to my desires. If I could, I'd try them all out, but alas, it can't happen.
Sorry for the long message, and again, I hope you can help me out. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Mark (P.S. - my amp is a Traynor YCV50 Blue if that factors into any of your suggestions) quote |
XxGibsonSGxX wrote on Jan 30th, 2009 10:16pmHey there, I have a dilemma, and Dave Mc says you're the man to come to for the answers.
So, I have an American Standard Strat (SSS), and very very soon I am going to be replacing the pickups from stock - all 3 of them. I think I really want to go with DiMarzio, and that is where you come in. According to Dave, you know quite a bit about DiMarzio? Maybe you could suggest some pups for me to look at?
I'd like to stay SSS, but am open to a stacked single coil in the bridge (if DiMarzio makes them?) I play some bluesy stuff, lots of instrumental like EJ, and I really love Malmsteen's tone as well. I really need to be able to handle cleans, and high high gain is not a must. The heaviest I would go is Iron Maiden or Sabbath, I think, and even then, I rarely play it, so it's not a big deal. I use my neck pickup the most, but was thinking of wiring it so the neck and bridge can operate together. quote |
