Interests
Favorite bands :
I like s many different kinds of music and I change favourite bands on an almost weekly basis, but my favourites that have stayed with me for longest, are 'The Fall' and 'Jefferson Airplane' (NOT 'Starship' era)
Favorite guitarists :
I'm listening to 'Big Brother and the Holding Company' right now, as I love James Gurly's playing on the old tracks recorded with Janis Joplin. He has a kind 'Suck it and see' approach to playing, a lot like my own. I don't care much for technically great players, I'd rather hear "soul" in the playing, than technical perfection
Favorite bassists :
Go to 'You Tube' and type "Lydia on bass 5" and watch this girl play bass. She is amazing and you'll be knocked out by her style, and how easy she makes it all look. I also went wide eyed watching Nick Beggs (former Kajagoogoo) bassist, playing the Chapman Stick. Check it out
Favorite books :
I love Biographies about musicians. I've recently read 'The Man, the Magic, the Truth' a book about Jimi Hendrix, by Sharon Lawrence, wehich was great. I've also just finished Alice Echols book 'Scars of Sweet Paradise' about Janis Joplin - again a good read.
Favorite tv :
I'm not one for watching TV to be honest. I'd rather play my guitars. When I do watch, it will be the history channel - although I confess, my new girlfriend, Alison, HAS got me watching Hollyoaks and a few of the soaps!
Favorite movies :
Music documentaries, historical films, some classic gangster stuff, the type all boys like, such as Scarface and Casino.
About stevegad
I teach kids to play guitar. I began playing as a child of about 8, and although I could never be accused of being a "great guitarist", I have managed to make a living from music so far, and still doing so at age 51, that can't be bad, can it?

I love the fact that with a guitar, you never stop learning. Even now, I'll be playing and think 'Wow' I never did that little run before, or find something new and be amazed. Guitars are the one love in my life that have never let me down. My guitar would never cheat on me, never lie to me, and always be happy to play, no matter what time of day or night.

Yep! You can say for sure, I love my music, and I love my guitars.
