Now, i know only like 6 people are ever going to see these blogs of mine, but for those 6, i have to let you know if you don't already know, Karnivool are quite simply then best live band i have seen. I saw them last week at the Metro in Sydney and simply, they were brilliant. Didn't miss a beat or a note. I also saw them at this years BDO, but the mix wasn't very good compared to the dedicated show.
Now what other bands have i seen to be able to make such lofty statements? Well, i saw Iron Maiden in Feb (and they were the best i'd seen until these guys), and i've seen these following acts over the years; Suicidal Tendencies, Metallica, Slayer, Ministry (loudest band ever!), Machine Head, The Cops, Faith No More (several times, good times), Mr Bungle, Black Sabbath (with Ronnie Jame Dio belting it out), Infectious Grooves, Primus, Queens Of The Stone Age, Gyroscope, Butterfingers, Kid Confucius, Foo Fighters (i'm actually seeing them tonight too!), Muse, Chris Cornell (he has an amazing voice live as well), Carcass, Fear Factory, Kyuss, Slayer, Poison (my secret shame, also my first gig), Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails (I saw them at Alternative Nation and thought they sucked, probably becuase they followed Faith No More, but saw them again last year at Luna Park and it was brilliant), and Tenacious D. That's all i can recall at the moment. Guess i've had too much fun
But the stand outs amongst that lot were Primus (could always get the crowd jumping), Suicidal Tendencies and Machine Head (they were touring their first album, but had already lost their drummer so i was distressed that it was going to be shit, until some local lad stepped up and fucking smashed it! Good on you, unknown drummer!)
All said and done if you don't know who Karnivool are, get your arse out there and find out.
Fuck that a bold statement saying Karnivool are a better live band than bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and slayer i trust your judgement tho. So did the drummer fill in for suicidal tendencies or machine head? And damn you have been to alot of gigs that alone deserves a kudo.
