that's not me playin lead, but all the other parts (acoustic n bass) - n the tune is mine - the lead guy n i collaborated on the chord changes structure for the solo parts n other things - original conception: 1985 - 4-tracking: 1999 - the double lead thingy was an accident - he wanted a retake, but we kept the first to compare later, and jus liked the way it sounded in stereo unison n kinda harmonizing :D
WBOE stands for "Without Beginning or End" - n i stole that title from somebody - n they can have it back if they ask nicely - i'd been playing for about a week when i first started writing this - 530 open string pull-offs, n go with it - it got faster n faster - this "part 1" i'm calling it is actually about the first half - recorded for sound check in 97 or so, n remixed in 2008 with clean on one side n freaked out on the other - digital fx, gotta dig em
this is mostly mine - or, the guy whose idea i ran with, on this now excessively extended riff, didn't really like much anyways, my one bar answer to his one bar impetus - so we never did anything with it - but it's great fingering, all open strings, 2nd n 3rd frets only - n as the years went by, it kinda evolved into an actual thingy, so i gave it a name - today, it's parta a much larger 20 minute progressive yes meets rush kinda thingy, all on bass - someone do a guitar part for me :P
this was originally kinda sposedta be almost a favor for somebody - a buddy had a tune with just basic chord changes, but he'd jus started playin, asked me to run thru em without any mistakes - and is naturally when recording, i put together a generic arrangement, n a solo was inspired - i'm really justa bass player tho, obviously - but at the time i had kinda almost tabbed a very basic open string jammer approach to dream on - so that's where my head was at, but it also almost sounds like journey :P
