So Now I Know What They Mean

When they say its best to try it out at a store.

I had three guitars in mind that were perfect within my price range, and had some good reviews as well:

- The Fender HSS Standard Stratocaster
- The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus-Top
- The Epiphone G-400 SG

I tried out the Fender first... Oh man was it wonderful. It felt pretty good. The neck was nice and thin. It was easy to slide my hand around the neck. It just had a nice feel to it. The neck was shorter than I expected it to be... but that was a good thing. I'm used to reaching my arm out when playing my acoustic. This one just had a good short neck that I could reach around and hit pretty well every note.

Then I tried out the Epiphone G-400 SG. It was slightly heavier than the Fender... I didn't really like the wooden feel to it. Nor did I like its feel in general. I didn't like the neck. But I liked the double cut out... but I could hardly play with it for more than 5 minutes. I gave it back to the guy.

So the last choice was the Les Paul Standard. Boy was that thing nice-looking. Damn fine. It wasn't as heavy as people made it out to be. It was only slightly heavier than the SG, but when I sat down and started rocking out, I felt like I was in love. It molded quite perfectly into my arms. I loved the feel of its body. The neck reminded me more of my acoustic, so it was easier for me to adapt. And I liked to play around with the tone switches.

So now my mind is split between the Strat or the Les Paul. I'm slightly leaning toward the Les Paul, but I only played the Fender a bit because the store dude was sort of kicking me off a bit. I liked the Les Paul but the Strat was nice too.

I'm thinking of going back to the store and trying out those two again, the Stratocaster and the Les Paul. I'll decide from there.

But really, now I'm too excited! I loved playing the electric, it felt so nice! It felt so right! It just felt natural to me. I've gotta save up a lot of money, and so far I only have $200 in my pockets. I gotta pick up a lot of shifts just to get money. But it's gonna be totally worth it!
