So I managed to score a ticket to Flipper's first ever Auckland show. And it was unbelievable. Possibly the best concert I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot.
But the best part, the crowning fuckin glory, was the final song, Sex Bomb. Where members from the crowd got to sing. Well, scream "Sex Bomb Baby" and yell like demented banshees. But that's neither here nor there.
Anyway, the guy next to me in the front row got up and went at it. Then I decided to grab the second mike. For five minutes...five fuckin minutes - I was the lead singer of Flipper. And those were five of the greatest minutes of my life.
So if you ever...ever get the chance to see Flipper live, do not miss it. They may be in their 60s (well, Bruce and Ted at least), but those two rock harder than any other 60 year olds (and yes, that includes the classic rock dinosaurs like the Rolling Stones and the Who).
