Thanks, Craigslist!

Current mood: drunk like a russian

I just found a '98 Gibson SG-X on Craigslist for 300 bucks.  I don't like SGs, but wow- I couldn't say No to that. I wonder if it's considered rude to put it right back up on Craigslist for more than I paid for it. I'm about to find out!

The Blues can suck it.

Current mood: bitchy

I get so tired of everyone telling me that I don't appreciate good music because I have no interest in listening to straight blues. Maybe it's because I live in Arkansas, where people think you have strange taste if you own an album that was recorded in England or has something to say besides "Party" or some shit. The fact is, the Blues just suck, and I want to know why people still believe that it's an entertaining genre of music. I mean, if I want to hear someone complain, I can listen to The Jesus and Mary Chain or The Dead Boys and not have to try and stay awake through some semi-literate musicians attempt to communicate things that have already been said in the same way a thousand times before, with the same sound. Now, I'm a blues-based player, in that I don't have the discipline to learn jazz or anything, but if I ever meet someone who wants to hear a blues song, I just put my axe down. They aren't going to like anything I play. I'm sure someone is saying "But it's a vital and respected link to the past!". Well, so is Zeppelin lV, but I've heard that album enough for one lifetime as well. I can appreciate great musicianship in any genre, and Stevie Ray Vaughan was incredible to watch, but why limit yourself to the image and mood that straight blues evokes? I don't even listen to the newest Clutch record, because they've (d)evolved into a blues band. I just have to have dynamics in the songs to get excited about them, and the overrated snoozefest that is Eric Clapton just lacks it. But then, George Harrison is one of my favorite guitarists. But he didn't shut himself off from any style. I sound like a bitch, huh? At least I can listen to Bad Brains and calm down. Or write a song about it...  "...Woke up this mornin'........bitched about the blues to the world...." Sorry.
