I've decided to write a little about those tracks I've just put up. First of all, hope you people like them. Second, they were all done for coursework. I did Music Technology, and much of this involved recording of our own songs. They were all done on Cubase 4. Lastly, I find it hard to listen to them as all I can hear is a immense amount of theft from my favourite artists and mistakes, maybe the loving people of UG think differently. Anyways, here's a little description of said tracks:
Dreamless - Some of you will quickly notice that this has a RHCP sample in it, that I've rearranged. It's gone from A-F-C-G to A-C-G-F. Not a huge difference, but I quite like it. The cello, piano and drums are all from Cubase. I'm terrible at writing drums, so forgive me with that. I know they're simple and boring. The guitar is all my own work, recorded in using a USB interface. A few solos, with lots of FX. Ask me if you want more info.
Before the End - Anyone who owns The Empyrean: I'm sorry. I know it's exactly the same - it was kinda my intention. Went through some nasty stuff at the beginning of this year and I wanted a track that I could vent on and this invented itself. Basic chord progression, the lead parts where lots of small takes with some over dubbing. There's a very quiet percussive noise which was me hitting the body of my bass. The song was slightly out of time so I couldn't have MIDI drums.
It Might Be A Soft 'J': Kudos to you if you get the reference. The bass and piano sounds come from Reason 4, just from the NN-XT sampler. THE GUITAR IN THIS IS NOT ME. It is a teacher of mine who I got on really well with, and as you can tell - a cracking guitarist. He knocked this out in one take while only knowing what key it was in, he hadn't heard the track before. That's why there a few errors. The guy is a massive inspiration to me.
