All depends on what you're looking for Starting with Streetlight you'll probably wanna work your way back. Get into Mad Caddies, The Toasters, Reel Big Fish (Pretty big in terms of 3rd Wave), Catch 22, Mustard Plug. For a little bit of weird, try some Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, for some ridiculous, try the Aquabats, for some catchy, do some Suburban Legends (ie: the album Rump Shaker). If you wanna go with strictly ska punk, Operation Ivy is also essential. If you wanna get into the older stuff, a good newer take on it is Liberator. If you like them, you'll probably love the Two-Tone Era bands (The Specials, The (English) Beat, and one of my favorites, Madness.)

Thanks! I haven't really looked at all of them, but I definitely like what I've heard so far. I may be joining you in the obsession before too long :p:

You seem like the best person to ask...What are some of the best artists to get into ska with? I've listened to some (a bunch of Streetlight + some other various songs), but I'd like to listen to more.

It's actually a really weird transition. I'm going from a ska band to a symphonic metal project. We're currently writing an album, two songs in so far, we just need to record and send away to the guy doing our drums and symphonies. I'm really excited about finding out how it turns out.

Good luck. Metal is really fun to play but the symphonic part will be complicated. In plain metal, you can always chug the low string (d in my case, as I play in drop d) but in symphonic, you'll probably be playing classical guitar riffs on an electric. Have fun with that. Im lazy. Although im sure the synth guy can help with that. ^^

Check out our song, btw, I posted it. It's only one guitar, vocals and bass. Unmixed and terribly done. Enjoy. Im gonna add a solo when we get another guitarists.

Oh shit, that's pretty cool. I've actually started an entirely new music project. I think my ska band is over

Aw im sorry. So what's next?

Oh yeah and our first song is recorded. Ima post it soon. It's not mixed so you can hear all the pick bites and theres no drums, but the vocals, guitar and bass are all there (though the bass you really can't hear, our recording set up is shity)

Pretty good. Got a new vocalist for my band. Our old rythm guitarist came out of nowhere and is apparently able to scream like randy blythe

The bathroom is an ideal opportunity to gossip without risk of being overheard by who they're most likely talking about. It's a conspiracy, but you didn't hear it from me.

O.o i new it...
