Nope, the ads are only on the forums as the forum service we use is hosted for free. The revenue generated by those ads go to the forum host. |

Thanks. =] We're nowhere near as active as UG, but it's definitely not a ghost town. We have a small community of dedicated posters, so if you want a more personable atmosphere when discussing music, I think we're a pretty fun and friendly bunch. Hope to see you there. |
I'll join tomorrow. I look forward to going.

Yeah, the drive is a killer. I only live 20 minutes away and I still dread it. =( Especially when I forget to bring a PJ CD and then I'm forced to listen to the Buzz and all the crap it now plays. | Yeah I know what you mean. but try listening to 93 rock instead of the buzz, it has a lot better songs IMO.

Not really. It's like The Iliad except written by a less literate people. XD Seriously though, it's pretty boring and has very little literary value (the only reason a lot of schools assign it is for "culture"). Let me just give you a couple lines from the poem:
"...Beowulf, Higlac's/Follower and the strongest of the Geats - greater/And stronger than anyone anywhere in this world."
Very poetic, innit? XD |

ah well then, maybe I'll watch the movie..

That's on my list, but I'll probably read it over the summer or something when I have time to digest it.
I haven't had a lot of reading time lately because of school, but we read Grendel (published in the 1970s, it's an author's interpretation of Beowulf from Grendel's perspective) in English and I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to. It was mostly a philosophical outtake on it, which was kind of cool, considering how one-dimensional Beowulf is. | would you recommend beowulf?
i have no idea what it's about, only that it's a 'classic' and very old, heh..

Read any good books lately? =D | i'm in the middle of plato's republic.... it's hard to pick up (for me) but once you start it's pretty smooth, at least until the end of the chapter...
