Hi all, finally a proper introduction. We'll keep future updates here.
We're Dark_Matter, an Instrumental Post-Metal band from Limerick, combining elements of Progressive, Ambient, Gothic and Atmospheric metal. F.F.O. God Is An Astronaut, Pelican and Anathema, to name but a few.
We re-released our debut E.P. a few months back entitled _adrift_2.0_, which you can download for free on our Bandcamp page below. We'll also give you a physical copy for free if you hassle us at gigs.
Over the last few years, we've been gigging relentlessly around the country, including playing support for A Pale Horse Named Death (USA) and Mythological Cold Towers (Brazil)
Currently, we're recording our first full-length in Lakeland Studios, Athlone, which will be released later this year. More details on that soon!
We also have a bunch of tee's available at gigs and also on our online merch store, linked below.
And of course, you can find us on the usual haunts, facebook etc.
Hey everyone! Uploaded a new Frequency Void track yesterday called Luminosity. It will be featured on the E.P. I'm currently recording. Really hope you guys enjoy it, I had good fun recording it. Leave a comment!
I'll be releasing a
5-track EP mid-summer of this year. I've finished recording the
instrument tracks for three new songs which will be appearing on the
E.P. I'll be recording vocals soon, and then it's on to Mixing and
Mastering. Can't wait! For those of you who are from Ireland, I'll be
planning a Launch gig for around this time.
I'm on a facebook pimping binge at the moment, so please help me out and add Frequency Void on Facebook! and kindly share the link with your friends.
Frequency Void is my solo project, which I've been writing for for the past few years. I compose and record each instrument myself. So far, this just seems to be a project...I've been finding it very hard to locate musicians here to play this music live with me. If you'd like to contribute, or collaborate, please contact me.
There is no set style to my music. My influences vary, and I never listen to one particular genre.
Feel free to check out the recorded tracks and videos at the following pages:
Haven't used UG in a very long time, I've found my musical interests and styles have dramatically changed....holy crapola!
Currently, I'm working on a full-length album, which I hope to gig in the near future with a few musicians in Limerick. Each track on the album (so far) seems to vary quite a lot from the previous. Opening track is an instrumental, melodic tour-de-force of 8 string guitar riffage packed upon an industrial (yet metal) beat with 5-string slap bass.. (sounds a bit ridiculous, and to be honest, it is. Thats the point. ) Second track on the album does have vocals, which work as a replacement to the melodic lines in the first track. Its a continuation of the same theme, however with a different musical style. Third track is then a blues-rock track, very akin to late-era Rory Gallagher (If you haven't heard of him, I would highly recommend to check out his music. One of the reasons I'm proud to be Irish!!) Fourth track is actually more or less doom metal. Its not fully written yet though, but so far it seems to be a mish-mash of Paradise Lost and Mael Mordha.. (yet another reason I'm proud to be Irish). Fifth track is very different to all the previous tunes. I took inspiration from Pendulum and recorded a strange mix of fúcked up dubstep with guitar riffage from a downtuned 7-string. Sixth is absurdly long. Its my very own Blackwater Park. Seventh and Eighth tracks are pure groove/heavy metal. Ninth and Tenth are acoustic tracks. One is instrumental, the second (following the idea of the first and second tracks) is a continuation, albeit with vocals. The final track, which is a collab between me and a few others, is a matching closer to the opener. Hasn't been fully written yet, so can't really comment on it yet!!
Yes yes, sounds like the strangest album ever, but its more or less a concept album. Might take another while to be fully mastered, but if you can spare the time, please check this profile in the coming months to have a listen to some teasers from it... I really hope you'll like it.
Some of you might have seen my thread here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.ph p?t=1246140 I'm being made redundant from work next year, so what better way to spend my unemployed time than building another guitar. This time, I want YOUR opinions on what I should do. I have a general idea as to what I want to do myself, but I need you to refine it for me. Check out the thread and post here.
