Yeah, but it's much more acceptable for a girl to like a male musician than it is for a guy to like a female one.
It's also much harder for female instrumentalists to get record deals and get into bands. With the bass it's only recently that you see any 'big' female players like Tal Wilkenfield and Meshell Ngedocello.
