The lens I used for this was a straightforward 18-55, the stock one that came with the camera. The only thing is my Nikon uses AF (mechanical autofocusing) lenses so I had to turn that off and manually focus it to get that close up. Other than that it was all stock...

You have to get a filter (the hoya R72 is the best) and have a camera thats good for IR. Its pretty fun though, if you got a good camera for it I'd rcommend it.

My dad had surgery last wednesday, been at home since thursday but I'm just back at my own apartment. I think hormone treatment is er... less icky than surgery.

Go to www.dpreview.com they've got good resources for cameras. The lens size jargon is a bit all over the internet, it's easy to find.
And let's say I did... a few paper routes >.>

I think the 18-55 is supposed to be good, there was another lens that was standard for a while that was terrible. My brother has the tamron 17-50mm 2.8 and I think that's really good. You can get one used for maybe £250. It depends on your budget and uses I guess. The 450D is a very able though.
I have the 5D with a 24-105 IS USM mm.

Yeah it's a great camera. You getting any lenses with that? Because good lenses are the most important thing.
