IMO, the only thing that song needs is a slight boost in audability from the bass guitar. just a little bit to make its presence a bit more known, it will also add a bit more oomph to the heavier sections.

Yeah, it does need a bit more. Right now I'm still trying to master my dynamics without whoring compression, hence the distorted bass, but soon I'll begin introducing clean bass. Distorted bass on a guitar amp just doesn't have the right power a bass amp has, naturally, but it's what I've got to work with, lol.

Thanks for the listen, man.

uhm sure. Anything that is as intense and awesome as Red in the Sky really.
One of the greatest melodeath albums and one of the most genre-defining is Heartwork by Carcass, but if you want to scratch the surface a little more, then I doubt you wouldn't have heard it. Maybe check out Kalmah, if you haven't already?

I need more melo death

the Early stuff like Red in the Sky is Ours

album recs?

All I have is - Red in the Sky by AtG, Subterranean, Colony, Jester Race, Whoracle by IF, and.... some Amon Amarth but they don't count

Do you mean like, proto-melodeath which is pretty much a cross between Morbid Angel and Iron Maiden?

yeah man, old school progressive rock and such just has a higher quality in most of the releases. I think its because while they did sell albums, they remained mostly an underground thing, kinda like metal is today.

But yeah, Hawkwind is sweet. Gentle Giant is another often looked over gem, the self titled album especially.

Gentle Giant rule, I'm a big fan of their first few albums, the self titled probably the most. I've been getting into that kind of 70's stuff like Camel, Gryphon, King Crimson, etc. lately. It's really rewarding .

try Squier's Vintage Modifyed series.

They have a P bass and J bass, the Precision having a deeper sound, the Jazz offering a bit more tone control but lacks the depth of the Precision

plus they are easy to find and relatively cheap considering the quality

Allright man. Can do. What's your opinion on Ibanez Basses? Are they really "the bass revolution", as they claim to be?

Hey man, thanks for the add. Awesome stache :D.

Hey, can you help a guitarist out. I was thinking about getting a bass , what would you reccomend? I'd like to get an all around kind of bass.
