Why is it that like 90% of people on this website are so anti-rap/hip-hop? Whenever I'm bored and look at these threads that people open about rap music, everyone just seems to be a hater. I mean i'm not the biggest fan of rap (I'll be the first one to admit that), but im not going around hating on hip-hop in general just because alot of the mainstream stuff sucks. Honestly mainstream hip-hop is about 50% better than mainstream rock these days if you want my opinion. At least hip-hop isn't completely devoid of creativity. For those who don't like the music because the majority of hip-hop doesn't involve instruments, then check out hip-hop acts like the roots, rage against the machine, stetsasonic, and bands like these that are rap but play instruments and play them well. You might surprised.

Zapht, you are an ignorant fool to say that rap is just 'a bass set and some idiot with a microphone'. Listen to the album 'Madvillainy' by Madvillain. It has some of the most inventive, creative and impressive sounds I've ever heard from any album. It's more dynamic than most rock albums I've heard and if you deny that it takes talent to make a record like that, you're just being even more ignorant than you are now.
And you listen to metal. Most rock/metal lyricists stand no chance whatsoever against a really talented rap lyricist.

yes, ur right about those bands, but like 95% of rapers have no talent. raping is rhyming words right? i learned how to do that in the 1st grade. if i went into the rap career, id be a millionaire by now
