At few times a week when i'm not with my girlfriend or at my dads (live most of my time with my moms cause she lives in the city where my life is), me and some friends have these mini-lans (whe all have our school laptops and sit in a friends basement). We play a game called Desert Combat which is a BF1042 Modification. This is a awesome game, but it wakes something evil in me. Something gruesome and really mean.
We are usually 4 guys gaming this game, ALWAYS the same map. And we flame and taunt each other all the time! We never cooperate, we just slaughter (TK) each other and laugh loudly as we do anything to make the ingame life miserable. When someone is killed (ingame), we alway call each other names like cock or ass, make fun of fatness, use racist quotas and use anything in our power to lower each others self confidence. This game really brings forth the worst in us. We sit here like shit-holes and mock each other until one of us get a "fatal error" message (which seems to be a ingame bug).
And when we are done. We're just friends again lol
I will start by saying that i have NEVER written a blog before. I will also include that i never really sat down and read a blog. But i will certainly try my best
Today i want to talk about guitar equipment shopping. I spend much time looking at amps and reading reviews. Constantly changing my mind about guitars, amplifiers and effects. One of the biggest mistakes i do is that i question each and every choise i make. I was going to get a Ibanez S520EX for one year. Then i read a review that said it was a bit muddy at palm muting, So i bought a guitar i ended up hating. The Washburn i bought has a raw and really awesome sound. But it looks like weird (Keep in mind that this comes from a Metal player ;P) and doesn't feel right for me.
A friend of mine said "oh dude, you HAVE to get a Floyd Rose guitar next time". I did just this with the washburn X40. But do not need a Floyd Rose. I play rythm guitar and do vocals, so i really don't need a guitar built for soloing. Why did i change my mind? I think this bothers many guitar players. Another thing that is stupid to do, is to ask UG dudes about everything. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that they dont know what's good. But Many in the forums (including myself) are masters of slaughtering cheap equipment. It is true that combo's are better than cheap stacks. But then again, would you like to play a amp that doesn't feel right?
Okay. Somebody might be satisfied with the combo they maybe get. But would it be so much less satisfactionary with a cheap stack? I was set to Get a Marshall AVT which i had tried on a music store. And it was a great amp! I was so happy that i had found that amp. I came home and posted on this forum, and my choise got totally slaughtered. I eventually got a Marshall DSL100 on a closing-down sale. But what if i didn't?
The message i have been trying to bring forth is really: Unless the amp/guitar really sucks big time, do we have to slaughter it? There will always be some fronts against each other. Do not become a slave of reviews (as i am :P) Hell, even my Marshall DSL got slaughtered on a thread in this forum. I would really like any comments on this, many will disagree
