I used to have alot of trouble with my ear but, lately I've been experiencing alot of success with my efforts to learn songs by ear. I have been using a system to identify the chord changes. I use the recording of the song , a copy of the lyrics , my computer and patience. I put the song on my media player and listen to it while attempting to play with it. I type the chords above the lyrics where they occur as I figure them out. I keep going over the song like it's a puzzle. I fill in the pieces until the picture is complete. I then have a completed tab that I post on UG. for our great comunity to share.
I had a recent tab rejected by the guys in charge and I can't figure out why. The tab was done by ear and I'd say was pretty accurate. It may have had a minor error somewhere but , I don't think so. Not that there aren't any tabs that got posted that are completely wrong. There's tons of those. The song is Roller Derby Queen. It's a good song and you can't find it anywhere online. I thought it would be a welcome addition to the best tab site in the world but, I was wrong. Anyone like Jim Croce? I thought he was pretty popular among singer song writers.
I have been having problems with my profile on this site. I adjust it to update the info on my profile and when I come back it's back to the way it was before I adjusted it. So , I fix it again and It's back to the way it was before when I go back to it. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something I'm doing Wrong? Stay tuned for my updates on the ongoing struggle to stay up to date.
Where were you when you heard about the attacks on our country 7 years ago? I was driving to work when I heard the first report of a plane colliding with one of the towers. I thought it was an accident , nothing more than a tragic accident . When I got to work ,some 25 minutes later, I got a phone call from a friend who frantically pleaded with me to turn on the T.V. to see what was going on. When I got the television on the second plane was moments from impact. Needless to say , that is a moment I'll never forget for as long as I live. I'm bringing this up here on Ultimate guitar because , I would like to propose a challenge for any of us out here on Ultimate guitar to come up with a song about how the events of 9/11/01 effected us. There are a couple of great country songs that were written about it . They pretty much tell the collective story of the way it effected the country . So , try to make it more personal. More about your unique experience on that awful day .
