Yep I have all the floyd albums, all Roger Waters albums, and On an Island, but Ive listened to quite abit of Daves other stuff as well.
Its hard to pin down a favorite floyd album, but I really love WYWH, Animals, A Momentary Lapse, and The Division Bell.
You have got to check out Roger Waters Amused to Death, it is probably the greatest album of all time, Jeff Beck plays the guitars, and it has the greatest lyrics written in the last century. Once you get that you will totally want to hear The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, and Radio Kaos. |
thanks man..i will check out the roger waters album sometime today...
and yeah its extremely hard to pick a favorite PF album..they are all epic

so what kind of area do you live in in england. More suburban or rural?
Im pretty much in a small ass country hick town right now, and I pretty much hate it.
A bunch of rednecks that can't drive is pretty much the only thing over here in this town of 3,000. |
lol iot's more suburban here

well your off to a great start listening to Animals and the like, Definitely give A Momentary Lapse of Reason a try, its the first floyd album they made after Roger left the band, and it really is quite good. some lesser known gemstones are Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, and a real obscure one that you might find interesting is Atom Heart Mother, its very early from about 1969. and if you listen to it, meddle and obscured that will give you a good idea of the bands progression from the early expirimental days into the magic of the dark side of the moon.
another must is to check out Roger Waters solo albums, Amused to Death is one of the greatest rock and roll masterpieces of all time. Jeff Beck provides the guitar work and it is second to none. |
Thanks. I'll make sure to check those out when I can.

Any particular pics you mean? I usually go here and there around where I live. quote |
Kensai wrote on Sep 24th, 2008 12:18amHaha, I saw one where they wanted to colour the sky green! Bit impractical I'd say.
Sweden is very bland and boring sadly. You'll have to look very hard to find anything. I wish I lived in france or switzerland =( quote |

I know what you mean, he really does have the best tone of all time. I think hes underrated as a guitarist though, a lot of people say yeah hes got good tone, but he isn't anything special.
Ive never heard anybody other than Jeff Beck play with as much emotion and their phrasing is incredibly dynamic. |
I agree. He certainly isn't as flashy as some other guitarists out there, but his solos have so much feeling to them.
ntchode wrote on Sep 23rd, 2008 at 5:12pm :
So have you heard all their albums? or do you stick with the more traditional stuff? |
Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to getting their albums aside from their more popular ones (DSOTM, Animals, The Wall, and WYWH). Which albums do you recommend?

No thanks. I'm a complete math nerd. My life isn't complete without math.
ntchode wrote on Sep 22nd, 2008 at 10:27pm :
so whats your favorite Gilmour solo?
Its a tough choice for me, but its definitely between the Dogs Solos or maybe one of the solos from the new On an Island album, really some of his best guitar work in my opinion.
his live stuff always kicks ass though, he has so much control over his sound and his playing. |
Hmm... I dunno to be honest. I really enjoy most of his solos. His tone is just absolutely amazing.
Probably Time though, just because that was the first Pink Floyd song I heard and it really got me into them.
