About 6 or 7 years ago I did a solo gig. I dearly loved it. But, somewhere in there I started doing duos. This fear of playing alone crept in. I got offered a solo gig once in a while and I turned it down. I played a trio about 8 or 9 months ago and When the other 2 took a break, I played alone. I forgot how nice it felt to do the stuff only I can do. So on Cinco de Mayo I booked a solo gig and it ended up being a duo. 2 weeks later I finally got to play alone. I was hesitant at first, a little shaky(I had 3 hours to do), and it was hot. After the 1st few songs I hit my stride and got comfortable, talked to the crowd, of course I had to give them trivia. It worked. I had a ball. Some old friends showed up unexpectedly and it was great. I caught myself talking to them too much and made a concerted effort to entertain the entire audience. The few requests I got were from "older" people and thankfully I knew the songs. All in all I'm ready to do it again. My health has been bad and the heat has been unbearable, but soon I will go back and this time with a lot more confidence.
