I work full time with a dueling piano company in the Chicago area. In a way, this is the pinnacle of my career as a musician. Before the concept of dueling pianos was widespread, I slummed a lot from bar to bar. I drank too much, because I was not comfortable on stage. I struggled with multiple side projects to keep me going. I struggled with full time jobs that just didn't work out.
Many many years later, which included a 10-year stay in Japan, and four homes here in the US, I am now working steady in a field that has a future, and it is something I happen to love. And damn, it even pays the bills!
One thing that has been consistent for me is my love of music, and I suspect that will never change.
