I've officially put the pen to the paper again and started writing another song, this one called "To The Sky". I wrote a portion (or all of it, who knows at this point lol) in my 45 min study hall yesterday. Here's a peek at what I've gotten so far;
The Heavens open wide A man watches his self-destruction Into his past he falls again Consumed by these old regrets The fire in his eyes Never let go of his past He watches the sky Heart burning with desire Charges the front The clouds illuminated with fire For all he knows Casts him into eternal damnation The day of judgment Arrives to his door A man robed in black On a skeletal horse Death. The greatest avenger Wisks him away This will be the last he sees the light of day They charge to the sky And all light blackens At last the man realizes He cannot escape Death’s embrace
So yeah, that's what I've got so far. It still needs quite a bit of work, but hey, it's not bad!
Wrote another song right after my other one, it's called "Mechanical Antichrist". It's kind of a myth-metal song telling about a machine built in hell and unleashed upon the world with a reign of terror. Otherwise it's been pretty slow lately, not much going on. Meh band will prolly have another practice or two this week, get some shit accomplished. Peace.
My band has taken a short two-week hiatus as of this past monday, giving us time to write some songs. I've been practicing "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and have written a song about ten minutes ago entitled "Green Rain", working title. The song is about how many copycat bands and artists along with unbinding contracts in the music industry. Otherwise it's been pretty relaxed lately, so yeah.
It's been a while since I posted on my own page, so I decided to do a little update. My guitar playing has improved greatly and I've been working on a few songs for my band, I finally got a guitar stand and my own music stand for my birthday (2/23). I've also been in talks with my bandmates about changing our bandname to "The Sixth Gate", Billy really likes the name, but Derek still supports his name, "Six Second Suicide". Otherwise, things have been going great, post again soon!
Yesterday I received my RP80 effects processor as a gift. Its sound quality isn't the best, but it definetly gets the job done. I've been very happy with the effects it has and hopefully it'll help my sound in the band. I also received some Fender Thin Picks, an instrument cable, and some other non-guitar stuff.
Hey, first off I'll start by saying that I've gotten 2 times better than I was the last time I posted. I learned the "Darkness Riff" of Metallica's One this morning and the main chords of For Whom the Bell Tolls. I've also been practicing Billy's riff. Hopefully, I'll get an effects processor/pedal for Christmas, which'll also help my sound. Well, I guess that's all I've got this time 'round.
P.S. to all Metallica fans; Make sure you watch "When Metallica Ruled the World" sometime on VH1, it's pretty sweet and gives you a nice look at the ups and downs of their 26-year career.
Hey, I'll start off by saying that two days after my last blog I got some Blue Steel strings for my guitar, and they are superb!
Also as a band update, I officially wrote the lyrics to our first song, which has the working title "End of Days". The song is about annihilation of the human race through nuclear war. Well, that's about it, I'll probably get an effects pedal in the near future (as in, Christmas), so that'll add to our sound.
See ya!
So, here's my first blog...I guess I'll start it by saying that I figured out how to strum really, really fast today. While I screwing around and trying to learn Misirlou, I started playing on the high E string and it broke!! Now I've got to ask my friend to pick up some strings for me (he lives near a music store), which means I'll have to wait a few days before I can play my guitar again. It's so friggin' frustrating!! I guess it's not all bad tho, I beat GH3 on Expert last sunday (11/11), which makes me the best GH player at school, which is pretty cool I guess. But, whatever, just had to get that off my chest.
