metalwarrior40 wrote on Dec 31st, 2009 2:05amThanks man. I use autoCAD 2007. I have the newer versions, but i find there a tad overkill for this. There great for more complicated stuff, but 2007 is plenty enough, and is better on my computer. Those newer ones can slow down your comp depending on the specs. For the outline of the guitar, I actually use a feature that allows me to import a picture in. I then scale it using the scale length, and trace it, and modify it till i like it. Everything else, especially the necks, are measure out and drawn by the dimensions. Same with the knobs, pickups, etc. However, some things you can eyeball, like the knobs, and headstock etc.
It's really confusing when you start, but you'll learn to get the hand of it. Make sure you learn what each tool can do, it will save you so much time if you know each ones uses. If you need any more help, etc, just let me know.
