Tapping was pretty easy. I do seem to have speed picking (tremolo picking) and alternate picking down to a point, I am almost getting economy picking (I'm still working on it! lol) . But mainly I am a rythym guy. I only play a solo if it's needed. For me metal ryhthm improv is pretty fun.

i can tremolo pick fairly fast, and i'm working on alternative/altrenate/sweep picking

i didn't take that much time to master tapping for me, or string skipping either acually, so now just speed picking and sweep picking is left to master and then i'll able to shred :P
