I know, I know. DeathBunny is quite possibly the second ghey-est band name in all of eternity, right behind Queen (no pun intended). If the project manages to sprout legs and start jogging it will be replaced with something suitably evil.
When Paulie and I decided to put together a low-pressure, [semi-] original, metal project we agreed to lay down some ground rules:
The wheel and all of its useful variants have already been created. A cool riff is a cool riff no matter how much it sounds like something another band might have done. Opeth, we are not. Anything we like stays.
All material will be recorded to aid in the arrangement process.
The timeline for having enough songs to play a forty-minute live set has been nailed down to one year. We don't want to feel rushed but we also don't want grandkids by the time we finish the first song.
The rules were driven by our personal situations. We both juggle families and full-time jobs. I throw a working cover band into the mix for good measure. The point of doing this is to ward off middle age for a bit and, hopefully, feel the rush of watching a few heads bob to music we can call our own.
I've given enough blood in the pit...I want to get some of it back!
