From where I live in america, it's a 10 hour drive to Florida, and I haven't even changed cultures. It's a 5 hour plne ride to vegas, still no culture. You just change destination. It'd be even worse from New York or somewhere else in the north.
It's an 9 hour flight just to get to Britain that costs $800-$1100, let alone the rest of Europe.

I guess we do have places like Jamaica, Mexico and Hawaii. But they're still a good ways away.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been here since I was 10 and I've built a lot of angst. haha.
