so i've listened to it a few times and i like it but its not great. it's like "fade to black" mixed with "to live is to die" with a little dash of "one"(for the last third of the song). after listening to this song i'm afraid that they might have forced the old metallica sound back into their music rather than having it naturally happen. the new song sounds like it could have been edited down to at least 6 minutes rather than being he full 8 minutes,. i still think it's a good song but not great but it's a step in the right direction. maybe my expectations are just too high but overall i would give the song a 7 out of 10. what do you guys think of the song? just wondering if i'm the only one who thinks this way.

8/25 oh my god i just listened to "My Apocalypse" and it's freaking awesome, Metallica is back yeah i said it they're back! that was the first trash song i've heard them make since the master of puppets album. at two minutes they go into this crazy slayer type riff and then do some variations on that it's tight. plus cyanide is a cool song, if you haven't heard it go on youtube there is a video of them playing at ozzfest. also check out this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwsbUUEOT9g it's an other song from the album this was played back in june of '06 but it's a tight song. this new album will be easily their best since the black album.
9/2 Cyanide this song is tight. metallica all of a sudden is being really cool and posting up full songs, cyanide being their newest one. it has a for whom the bell tolls kind of main riff, it's really cool! in a way it sounds like the opening riff for same ol' situation just in a different key, which metallica has said in the past that they're out to be the anit-crue, just a point i thought i would bring up. cyanide is freaking awesome and i can't wait 10 more days for this new album, I WANT IT NOW!!
9/7 Death Magnetic so yeah i just downloaded death magnetic and it is freaking awesome!! this is one of their best albums, i would say it's like ...and justice for all but with bass, lol. death magnetic does a great job of bringing back the old sound without taking a step back. death magnetic is it's own album and doesn't sound like recycled material like the new dragonforce album which sounds the exact same as the last one. i would say i like it more than kill 'em all and maybe more than ride the lighting or and justice for all or even the black album, but i'll say that it's not better than master of puppets because that album is a classic and is untoppable. this album is great and it is a must have for any metallica fan!
