Ok what's with all these lame ass fucking guitarists. Every one of them thinks that music is a sport. There's no competition in music. Just write whatever it is that you want and if it' s good people will listen and if not then it obviously sucks. Now, you could say that there are many bands that truly suck but you need to learn that its all opinion, if you dont like it then dont listen to it and shut the fuck up .Everywhere you go you see shit like " Dimebag's better" or "Gilbert's better than Lane".Just take it for what it is and enjoy it. To be honest i really love playing guitar and playing music in general b ut i swear some musicians are the most annoying close minded people i've ever met (myself included at times).
Another thing that pisses me off is when people say "Thats not music its just noise". The dictionary states music is, "any sweet, pleasing, or harmonious sounds or sound". Fuck that, what you find to be "sweet, ple asing, or harmonious" could be totally different than what i find to be "sweet, pleasing, or harmonious". Who's to say what series of notes or rhythm is pleasing or makes something musical? Did you invent "music"? No, you didnt so unless you can give me an answer that i cant disregard quit your whining and shut the hell up.
I completely agree with you, and being on UG doesn't help. Half of the posts I see are "omg MG's suck!" or "lol u listen 2 jazz, fag". Marshall MG's aren't the worst amps you can buy, and listening to Jazz doesn't make you gay.
A few of my friends listen to Blink 182 and the like, and people think that they're shit just based on the fact of the simplicity of the songs. They must be good - how successful are they?
UG is so stupid sometimes. Why would you put somebody else down about what Gear they own or what genre's they like. Some people are more serious guitarists than others, so what? Whether its a hobby or a profession, its definitely not a sport.
