Bobby, Johnny and James have all been friends for many years. After receiving a new bass guitar for Christmas in 2006, Case started jammin' around the house with friends and family. It brought back enough old memories that he decided to open up the garage and make room for his ol pals to join him. Cooper stopped by once and a while and joined in but never committed to the band until much later. After only a few jam sessions, the three original members, Johnny, Bobby and James, started writing songs. Johnny had a whole catalogue of lyrics he had written over the last twenty years, and so began to create the tunes that he thought should accompany them. Original drummer Joe Lee now is the official sound technician of Brain Gravy when he's not spending time behind the drums for either Fret Chatter or 3/8" Drive. James found Jimmy Dunn banging away on the drums one warm summer evening in '08 and asked him if he wanted to be in a band that was doing all new material. After hearing the wicked sounds coming out of Johnny Angel's solid mahogany Ibanez, Jimmy emphatically agreed to drum for the band and in September of 2009, Matt Cooper stepped behind the mic and sang on "The Deal" for the very first time. After writing the lyrics for the song more than 25 years earlier, Johnny told James that he thought they had found their singer. The decision to include ol' Coop changed the future of the band, and now the boys are primed and ready to set out on a grand adventure in rock and roll! And it's about damn time...
