One of the few piano pieces I've ever written, simplistic though it may be. I tried coming up with lyrics, but couldn't get anything to mesh well at the time of this recording (which was in May 2011). { Tags : jmb14, piano, electric, guitar, solo, instrumental }
My first original song recorded with lyrics. Has a simple chord progression of Em, D, C, & A. The instrumentation was inspired by parts of Led Zeppelin's All My Love. I know I'm not the best singer, added an echo to the vocals to cover it up a bit. Layered a clean tone from my Jackson guitar & an acoustic part courtesy of my Takamine Jazmine; lead guitar from the Electra. { Tags : jmb14, acoustic, fireball, electric, lead, guitar, original, jmb2891, jackson, takamine, jazmine }
I remember when they brought you home,
you were so very small
With so much field to roam,
our little Fireball
And now the hours seem so long ago
When you'd run round and round
And fall down on the ground
I remember when you died
I could've saved you if I'd been home
I felt like I could cry
I just didn't want to be alone
And now the days seem so different now
Without you by my side
Along with me for the ride
I remember when they brought you home,
you were so very small
With so much field to roam,
our little Fireball
And now the years seem so long ago
When you'd run round and round
And fall down on the ground
An acoustic piece with overdubbed electric lead guitar. Wrote on a nice summer day, hence the title. Another old recording (2010/11-ish) & I flub the timing a couple of times, but by the time I did the overdubs, I'd forgotten how to play it & was too lazy to relearn. { Tags : jmb14, acoustic, instrumental, electric, lead, guitar }
For this version, I only reversed the first chord or two. I added a few of my own riffs to it and based it entirely off how a certain classic metal song sounded reversed. The solo is the same as Version 1, since I couldn't replicate a similar one, but I made it louder. { Tags : harbringer, apocalypse, version, two, jmb14, jmb2891, electric, guitar, instrumental }
An instrumental recorded in a single take with a drum track from a Yamaha keyboard. The opening licks are inspired by Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix while the rest is more in the tune of Lenny by Stevie Ray Vaughan. It wound up a little longer than I originally intended. { Tags : little, angel, angels, wing, jmb2891, jmb14, instrumental, electric, guitar }
It had just finished raining when I wrote this, so the name seemed appropriate. Recorded on Audacity. { Tags : jmb14, rainy, day, electric, guitar, instrumental }
I recorded several riffs from a famous metal song and reversed it, then soloed over it. I went nuts on the solo and it helped relieve a lot of stress (I had a final the next day). Bonus points for guessing the metal song I reversed! { Tags : jmb14, instrumental, harbringer, apocalypse, metal, electric, guitar }
An improvised solo over a drum track. The drum track fades a little in volume because I was holding the microphone over my keyboard speakers and it swayed a little when I wasn't paying attention and when I switched hands, but it's hardly noticeable. { Tags : jmb14, jam, house, instrumental, drum, drums, track, electric, guitar, solo }
I stumbled upon the chord progression when just screwing around one day and recorded it. The original recording, where I was just getting it down so I wouldn't forget it, wasn't too good so I re-recorded it. When I wrote the lyrics, I thought it would be cool to throw in a Jimi Hendrix reference, but the whole damn song ended up as a big Jimi Hendrix reference. { Tags : jmb14, band, gypsys, electric, guitar, instrumental, lyrics }
Saw a band of gypsies going down the road today
Thought that'd be the life but, uh, anyway
Let's go take a ride and we'll see the sun rise
Forget all of our worries of life and grow wise
And baby we'll be our own Band of Gypsies
We'll drive on into the sun
Come on baby we'll have some good fun
We'll live like the gypsy and see the sun and rainbows
Escape this world and all of its woes
And baby we'll be free like a Band of Gypsies
We'll walk with the Voodoo Chile
And we'll all be wild
Let's board on this crazy train
Hell maybe we're all insane
This was the first thing I recorded with Audacity to test it. I copied the riff a few times and put different effects on it. One track is the original. One is with a wah effect. One is echoed, another is delayed, and the last one is reversed. It sounds pretty cool I think. { Tags : jmb14, filler, rock, instrumental }
This song borrows a heavy influence from Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) by Jimi Hendrix. I intend to write lyrics for this eventually. It originally bore a heavy resemblance to Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond. { Tags : jmb14, guardian, angel, electric, guitar, instrumental, solo, blues, rock }
