Favorite bands :
My main musical interest is metal. I'd say I'm more new-age now than anything. When I was younger, while other kids were listening to Savage Garden and the Backstreet Boys, my dad was cranking bands like Judas Priest and Uriah Heep. This started my interest in whats now defined as Heavy Metal (Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden)
Nowadays I like Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Megadeth, Killswitch Engage etc. One thing I've learnt from playing bass is to expand my horizons. Although I prefer metal, I listen to a vast variety of other genres. I love funk and jazz now (can you guess why), as well as early punk.
I'm often dissed for my love of classical music. I'll take Chopin over 'insert pop band' any day of the week!
Favorite guitarists :
To be honest, I don't have one.
Favorite bassists :
I've got a couple of bassists I admire. Mark from Breaking Benjamin, RyKnow from Mudvayne, and of course the classic bass gods Victor Wooten and Les Claypool.
Favorite books :
I like to read what you'd call fantasy novels, but within a series. I'm reading Feist's sagas at the moment. Im up to, Id' say, the 12 book (Feist writes series' within series')
Favorite tv :
Scrubs, Coupling, Heroes. Three fantastic TV series'. I love 'em!!
Favorite movies :
I like Remember the Titans. Has been, and will always be, my favourite movie.
I'm a 22 year old male bassist for the band Sweet Amber. I was born and raised in a town called Darwin. Although it's a capital city, its very small and rarely noticed in the Australia wide scheme of things. I consider myself easy going and friendly (small town syndrome).
Started playing bass about a year ago. I dunno why I chose bass (everybody asks me), all I can say is I've always been interested in the foundation of music, rather than the flashy frontmen. I'll often find myself humming the bassline rather than the main melody.
I started playing metal songs from my fav bands, then branched out into other genres. Although I'm in a rock band, I like playing funk and ska now, probably more than anything else.
