Oh my god, I remember my first metal song! It was... Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth! Good lord, I would just sit there and listen to it for hours!
1. It's fast, loud and aggressive.
2. Either Opeth or Dream Theater
3. Shit. Uh...Dream Theater's "Stream of Consciousness," I think.
4. Progressive Metal
5. I think it was "One," by Metallica. I dug the intro and the way the song progressed, although IMO Metallica is far from the best that metal has to offer. If you count the likes of Zeppelin and Sabbath, then it was something by one of them, though, which I immediately fell in love with.
6. Gems can be found in every decade.
7. The faster the better. Metal's supposed to be upbeat.

I responded to this blog because, I am 1. a father of three 2. I attend a church 3. well I'm not a nerd but I grew up in the early 70's and 80's 4. I was shown Metallica by a cop up the street from my house. The idea of this scope is pretty prejudice towards those things. So I just wanted you to know that that isn't always a 100% correct. One thing I will never say is I don't listen to heavy metal anymore. Long live Metal. Oh, by the way I also like Life Metal to. yeah religious metal music. Like Demon Hunter etc.

1. its complexity, not only technical, but theoretical. For example, many metallica songs are really easy to play (one) but the way the song actually sounds is complex.

4. I like all kinds, except for some bands who just make noise, and call it metal. its not really even music.
5. I probably heard metal for the first time and didnt know what it was, probably some hair band. the song that got me into metal was The Trooper, by Maiden
6.The only bands in the main part of the 70s were sabbath and priest, and if you dont like those bands, you cant call yourself a metal fan. I like 80s till now, because the 80s had both bands like maiden, and the hair bands, and thrash in the late part. the 90s had bands like pantera, and nowadays theres all kinds of metal out there.
7. Both, but usually metal music is faster than normal anyways
