Ok, I've decided to write down a little plan for the summer if you will, concerning my music. At the moment I have 4 complete tracks uploaded which I am happy with. Its been a while since I last uploaded something and the reason for this is because I decided to stop abstract wankary and concentrate more on 'songs/good instrumentals.' (Which is why I deleted all my untitleds). So like every other whiny kid who is glued to their computer I decided to blog it.
Looking through all my notes and shit, I have about 14 song ideas in development. (Lets see if any of you can get your head around this next bit).
1) 2 are definate/decent ideas that will probably be uploaded next. 2) About 3 of these ideas are just riffs/licks that I could possibly use together. 3) 5 of them are untitleds which I will develop into bigger/better songs. 4) The rest is shit or I'm too lazy to work on them.
So anyway, the plan:Stop being a lazy shit and actually work on them.
My playing has got better and I've found better ways to improve recording and tone.
Also, another thing. I may start some sort of electronic side-project to satisfy the pycho-delic/abstract/experimental side of my brain, in which I'll probably upload anything that comes out of that as a (virtual)band.
Its been a while since I last posted a blog, but I want to just share some facts with you which you may find of interest and hopefully allow myself to understand it better if I put it into words.
Recently I've been trying to have a go at developing and writing better songs as opposed to abstract wankary I used to do. I feel my writing has slightly improved with a recent song, 'Dimensions.'
However, there are quite a few problems I face.
1) I'm slowly developing my own style, but sometimes I find I copy different bands/styles which is annoying.
2) The bridge pickup on my Strat is busted, I'm not sure what it is. It still slightly responds, so it could be an electrical problem, I just need to find someone to fix it.
3) I'm limited to the amount of instruments I have. So bass, drums, etc can only be made with programs (or in the case of a bass, a whammy pedal).
4) Recording through a line-in mic on my PC alters my tone, so its like listening to it through headphones and having it sound pseudo-stereo (which is why I jokingly named my album 'Sounds of Pseudo.') Because of this I don't feel my recordings really do me any justice as a guitar player because I feel I am good. Oh, and that means no acoustic stuff either.
So, at this moment, this is what is happening in my life and my music. Like I said with point 1, I am developing my own style, which I like. To me it sounds like alternative rock/metal sprinkled with effects .
Yeah, I'm starting to get a whole new load of sounds and ideas from playing with my effects, hopefully I can make some use of them of them.
For those who don't know my name is Harry, not the best name but I'm not complaining. I found these definations for my name and not sure what to think of them.
A sex move invented by my ex-roomate Harry. This is when you wake a girl up, just in time for her to be awake when you cum either on her face or on her chest.
Dude, that bitch had it coming, so I pulled a Harry on her in the morning.
Ok now thats ok, its pretty funny and makes you think twice before approaching me.
called when you see a good looking lady/ piece of flith, too make your friends aware
Fit girl/Flith walks past, a friend shouts ''Harry!!'', you turn and admire
I'm not sure who this is directed at, but these last three scared me.
a girl with tons of arm hair that stalks you
i think lindsy is a harry
A boy who cannot stand up to his girlfriend and lets her boss him about like he is her dog. As if held by an imaginary lead.
Hey, she treats him like harry!
someone who uses heroin
all my mates are harry heads
But this by far is the worst, are they taking the piss? Seriously WTF!
being a harry means being a total spastic who spends all of his time masturbating over small asian men aka SAM. these "harrys" are usually found in arisaig, a small shithole of a village where prostitutes roam free, these are commonly mistaken for "sallys"
sam - "oh coatesy you're such a harry!" coatesy - "i know, and i like it!"
So recently I've found I've been doing repetetive and pointless tasks that seem to contribute to what is known as life. I thought 'My life is music, I need a goddamn purpose with it.'
However my ideas are some what dull and bland, so I've set myself a mission. I'm going to listen to all of the music on my iPod (yes I have an iPod). At this moment of writing I have aproximately 1235 songs stored on there (I'm sure you have more) thats about 3 days of music. I thought 'Fuck it, what have I got to lose.' I still got a load more albums to put on, which should take me around the 4-day long margin (oh goody ). So anyway, in all the time I'm not at school, and I'm not sleeping I will just listen to my iPod.
This is to expand my musical mind and just allow me to acknowledge the hard these muscians put in, isn't wasted. Wish me luck
