Nathan_393 wrote on May 16th, 2008 2:50pmI'm tempted to get a Dean for the EXACT same reason as you, but the problem with Deans (in my experiences with them) is that they're too damn heavy. But I understand that's also one of the key reasons that they get the sound that they do. The Bad Horsies are excellent guitars, but you might be able to get the same thing from a standard JEM (although I'm not positive; I never did compare them because the Bad Horsie is just out of my price range altogether).
I'd like to get a Washburn seven-string. I'd actually like a couple Washburns, because every time I've seen somebody use them, they cut through clearly and they sound phenomenal. A lot of times when I hear them on records, they just sound so crisp and well-balanced. And they look like the best 7-strings out there for their price. quote |
Nathan_393 wrote on May 15th, 2008 4:10amI'll be honest with you on something very near and dear to my heart that I don't tell most people: I hate Fender guitars. They just piss me off. Ceaselessly. But I do agree with you, Ibanez generally makes good guitars for cheap prices. I've thrown EMGs into my Vai to get rid of that "I'm too weird for you!" sound that Vai has, and it of course plays great on purchase. Great guitars. Gotta love Ibanez.
I was thinking about looking at some Deans for a while, but I saw a Megadeth concert, and Dave Mustaine is using those things now and you couldn't even hear it in the mix. It wasn't loud enough, and I've heard it's like that at all their shows now, so I'm figuring the guitars aren't very loud. Which is no good. quote |
Nathan_393 wrote on May 14th, 2008 2:27pmDefinitely.
I love the bottom-of-the-line RG stuff. I mean, it's so expandable, and it already sounds pretty good. I have a hard-tail RG that I got for $180, and it's just a beautiful guitar with some really bright, crunchy pickups, which surprised me. One of the best deals I've ever seen on any guitar; most of Ibanez's prices seem pretty fair. quote |
Logz wrote on May 9th, 2008 7:22pmErm, to be a part of the UG staff its a pretty long process.
You would usually start of as a column cleaner. Then work up.
We dont usually take on additional mods unless someone quits or the workload gets to much. When there is a need for an additional moderator, we'll usually have a discussion about whether it would be best to transfer a current moderator to another forum, or get a "new" moderator.
To even be put on the "possible" list you need to tick alot of boxes.
like:
Good knowledge of the rules, how the site works, its policies etc
A good working knowledge of the forum they will be put in (IE if its electric guitar forum, they need an excellent understanding of guitars)
being sensible, mature, understanding, and able to come to decisions on subjects
Also, one of the most important ones is the ability to work in a team and respect each other. The staff team work together incredibly well, we talk about alot of things together. quote |

Nathan_393 wrote on Apr 11th, 2008 9:35pmHey man!
Thanks for the comment on the Ibanez; it's not the Bad Horsie model, but it's a very similar one. It's just a Jem, really. lol.
You play BC Riches (I'm gathering you do from your photo)? If you do, I'm pretty impressed by the sound you've managed to get with them on CFH. quote |
