For example -
On a few of the tracks, they were set out wierdly.
Intro, Verse, Place where verse should be but no lyrics, Verse, Place where verse should be but no lyrics, etc
THis gives the illusion that the track is longer than it actually is. If you cut that bit out and just have - Intro, Verse, Verse, etc - You're music will seem less bland.
Another thing is alternative lead guitar. Even a few simple arpeggios of the background chords can add a wonderous shimmer to a song.
