Well, this is my first UG blog, so I decided to kick it off with starting with the CFC Youth For Christ Conference in Toronto, Canada that kicks off Friday, August 17 and ends on Sunday, August 19. Why I chose this topic is very relevant to music, actually.
Friday night is the pre-lims for the Band Competition! I think we're going to do well... so well, in fact, that we might actually win the darned thing! Hazaa! If we win at the pre-lims on Friday, our band gets to play at the Showcase Finals on Saturday night. This will be fun. Hopefully. If my wheezing stops.
And I thought I was going to sleep my day until school showed up on my doorstep. Obviously not. When it's Labour Day in the outside world, it's a "Clean Up Your Room or I'm taking away your Computer" Day.
I have a part-time job now. Of course, Mother Dearest thinks that I won't be able to handle 3 hours a day! (AND, in the field that I signed up for too.) It's like she won't let me grow up.
I bought a laptop for myself. That means that I have two computers now. She expects me to just GIVE my $1300 desktop to my brother who's going to be using it to watch NARUTO every day.
The hypocrisy is, is that my siblings were always telling me how much my desktop sucks, now all of a sudden, they all want it.
PSSSH. Forget them. They are both my computers. I bought them with my own money.
Oh man. It's been at least 4 months since I've played my bass. I'm starting to feel MAJOR withdrawl. The only type of "guitar playing" I've been doing waaaas... that's right. GUITAR HERO II.
Not being asked to play bass for ANYTHING is really killing me! *cries*
One day I'll play bass and/or guitar again soon.
Alrighty! October 26, 2007! Toronto! WOOo. We finally have the opportunity to see Paramore live. They're more talented, more energetic, (can i mention again?) more talented than I'll EVER be.... I'm sad all of a sudden. Aw.
GRRR! This profile completeness crap is getting on my nerves! SOOO, I'm a bit obsessive compulsive, and I NEED my profile to be frickin' complete. I'm DYING because it's only at 61%.
School sucks too. Just to let you know. Who would have thought that going from college to 3rd year university would be THAT harsh!?
I need to find time to update my MP3's and my tabs too. Where do I find the time for that?! *Looks at calendar*
Geesh. Anyway, it's 4:18PM where I'm from, and I've got a late assignment to complete. Lovely.
That's right... MCR saved my life. There. I said it. And
don't gimme that "MCR is crap" shit. I actually have a liking to their
music.... AND, you know... I used to
think that the saying was very, very stupid. Until it actually
happened...But before I go on to that... I'd like to talk to you guys about how I got a whole crapload of autographs from them!
My dad came back from Manila, Philippines just this morning... and he said, "Oh, (girl-tarist), you have something from your aunt here..." And I was all like, "WOooo Hooo!" because I knew what it was...
My aunt works for a promotional company, and on January 25th, she met the band she was promoting: My Chemical Romance. She was nice enough to get their autographs for me! The whole band was there, which was great. So, I have a great big blue poster with the words "THX (girl-tarist)!" written all over it with little scribbly marks resembling the bands' names. I also have a new Black Parade CD (which they also signed), as well an extra CD booklet with "To (girl-tarist) & (sister)"! They wrote my naaaame. hahaha.
SO ANYWAY, last February, I bought my tickets to see MCR at the ACC in Toronto on May 11, 2007. However, on that very day, was my aunt's 50th birthday party complete with a GUH-ZILLION guests, and LOTS AND LOTS of OILY filipino food. My mom was pretty mad.. because my aunt is her best friend. During the couple weeks before the concert, I started getting massive attacks of what I thought was heart burn . I was absolutely dying. Every time I ate something as little as a cracker, I would hurt.
On the day of the concert, I didn't eat anything almost the whole day. I just didn't have time to because I was late for work. After work, I high-tailed it to the concert, and still didn't eat anything (it was a great concert, by the way). Then... on the way home, my sister got some fries from MacDonald's. I was sooooo hungry... so I asked her for just 1 fry. I thought to myself, "1 fry isn't going to hurt me!" So I ate it. We got home, and I suddenly started to feel hurt inside. So, stupidly, I decided to sleep it off. Early next morning, there was a HUUUUUUUUUUGE pain in my chest. It felt like someone stabbed me.... I was then taken to Emergency where I then stayed in the Hospital for a whole PAINY HEART-STABBY week to treat me for GALLSTONES.
Stupid one fry.
On
a side note... I
also found out later that March.... that I had an opportunity to go to
China to teach in schools (for a month) but I couldn't find my passport
in time for the sign-up
deadline. My extreme appreciation for MCR came from the fact that their music was easy enough for me to learn... Therefore making me buy MCR tickets --> making me not able to go to OIL-FEST FILIPINO party, and CHINA. OH GOD. IMAGINE if I went to China... If one fry could cause me to go into Emergency, think of what would have happened if I had a whole filipino meal, or went to eff-ing china! OMG.
Thank you, MCR. You've saved my life.
I'm an avid believer in "everything happens for a reason" thing. God has a plan for me. And, that was His plan. Stopping me from going to my aunt's party, and stopping me from venturing to China... because He KNEW i was going to get sick.
Thank You, GOD! You save my life all the time. You're sooo good at that!
Poor, poor UG artists. Don't you just hate it (or cry) when you see that your music gets so many lovely hits, and not a single person rates it? It's sad and hurtful.
Oh, admit it. It is.
I'm lucky enough to get a few comments (thank you!) but it's still kinda sad to see no one rating. Look! I've got 100 hits on my simple plan cover, but no comments. SIMPLE PLAN FANS!!!! WTF people!
