Top 10 Albums REVISITED

Current mood: accomplished

It's been a while since I made that Top 10 Albums list, and my musical tastes have changed, quite dramatically. i.e. - Octavarium is no longer Number 1. So I'm here to share my opinion and can only hope that others agree.

10: Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape - This album really did something for me. I've had it for a long time and never really listened to it, but once I listened to "Requiem" (from the deluxe editon) and My Hero, I was hooked. And then I heard the song "The Colour and the Shape", which almost killed me because I couldn't believe it was Foo Fighters. A+ to these guys.

9: System Of A Down - Mezmerize - This album, however bizarre, is one of my favorites. My absolute favorite song by SOAD is "Question!", which was only a small part of what makes this record great. It's successor, Hypnotize, however, did nothing much for me. I'm still to entranced in this one to even bother with it.

8: Chevelle - Hats Off To The Bull - I got this album once it was released and was just amazed at how good it was. The songs were catchy and well thought out. While the lyrics were lacking, the music was just astounding, especially "The Meddler" and "Face To The Floor", which were the highlights for me.

7: Tool - Ænema - This album, at first, was rather boring. But once I started listening to it, I was glued to my computer. Even the intermission songs were amazing, that's how good this album was. I'm almost sorry it's at number 6. It can be addictive, fair warning.

5: Mastodon - The Hunter (Deluxe Edition) - I throw in the (Deluxe Edition) because it makes the album that much better. This is already an astounding album, and yes, there is a way to make it better. Once I got it, I also got Blood Mountain, and this was the attention hog. "All The Heavy Lifting" and "Curl Of The Burl" are probably the best songs on the record and, for the record, there is no better way to describe such an album as this than just the word "awesome".

4: Nine Inch Nails - Broken - This managed to make number four with only 4 real songs on it.Those four songs were pretty amazing. Just saying.

3: Dream Theater - Metropolis, Pt. 2 - Scenes From A Memory - This has to be my all time favorite Dream Theater album. I find it to be one of the most recognized and generally loved concept albums ever, and well deserving of it.The story is crystal clear, if you listen to the lyrics, you can picture the whole story in your mind, and to me that's what makes a great concept album.

2: Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E - This has to be one of my favorites because I love it when a band moves away from the norm. Incubus included turntable solos on this record. That qualifies as original to me. And every song it great, even that weird one "Magic Medicine". Favorite song is probably "A Certain Shade Of Green".

1: Blink 182 - blink_182 - This album is my number one because every song is memorable. I couldn't even pick a favorite, although I have a soft spot for "Asthenia". This album is just creative genius at work. I highly recommend it.

Top 10 Albums

Current mood: geeky

These are my all time favorite albums to listen to.

1. Dream Theater - Octavarium  -  the entire album was put together to make you think. It's really a fascinating album.

2. Blink-182 - blink-182  -  2 of my top 3 favorite songs of all time are on this album. The band did not disappoint.

3. Sum 41 - Does This Look Infected?  -  every song on this album is fantastic and I really wish they stuck to the same sound for the newer albums, although they're always great.

4. Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E  -  Picked this up at the library on a whim. Best choice of my life. I now have the entire collection and this is still my favorite. The album itself is riddled with turntable scratches and sound clips that all just fit with the music somehow.

5. Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2 - Scenes From a Memory  -  Dream Theater has 2 albums on this list, they are the best group of players I've ever head in my life.

6. Incubus - Light Grenades  -  Light Grenades was the first album I got by Incubus, and, although topped by S.C.I.E.N.C.E., is one of the band's greatest achievements. I really only got this because I knew the song Anna Molly, but have since grown to love each song on the album.

7. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light  -  The album is near flawless. I don't need to say anything else.

8. Green Day - Dookie  -  I love almost every song on this album. Green Day was one of my biggest inspirations as a player, mainly the reason I started playing in the first place.

9. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik  -  This is probably the catchiest album I've heard, and Fruciante is unbeatable. They aren't the same with Klinghoffer.

10. Anubis Gate - Andromeda Unchained  -  Got this because someone told me to, knowing I liked Dream Theater. I loved the album as soon as "Snowbound" hit and have listened to the entire album several times over.

Let me know what you think!
