One of my favourite tracks from Stadium Arcadium. I just wanted to try my hand at a load of overdubs. The solo at the end is a bit dodgy, but the final one i used was the best of about twenty takes, so it just goes to show how talented John Frusciante really is! Gear used: Encore Stratocaster, Gibson Firebird, Zoom G2, EHX Big Muff, Digitech Whammy. { Tags : Wet, Sand, Cover }
The second thing I ever recorded, and can be described exactly the same way as F Song. I tried experimenting with harmonies in this song, but they are very simple.
While I'm still getting to grips with my new recorder, I thought I'd get myself familiar with it's capabilities by reording some covers. This one is the fantastic Lenny Kravitz tune, which I was lucky enough to see played live by the man himself in June. Everything you hear in this track is played on my Encore Stratocaster... except for the drums obviously { Tags : Fly, Away, Lenny, Kravitz }
I threw this together after watching the pilot for a show that never made the air called 'Lookwell', starring the one and only Adam West! (It's on Youtube, check it out!) Partly inspired by Bill Bailey's take on the music to Starsky & Hutch, this wouldn't be out of place in a 70's cop show. Both parts were played on my Gison Firebird with the usual effects... { Tags : Undercover, Acting, Adam, West }
I just got my new Boss Br 600 last week, an this was the first thing i tried recording on it. It starts with a sort of REM type riff that i've had up my sleeve for long time, and then I just improvised a solo over the top... I only did one take of the solo, so there are a few bum ptes in there, and it doesn't really go anywhere, but it was fn to do!
You've got to love pentatonics! This is just a quick piece of improv that I threw together today, there are a few bum notes in there, but I thought that if I started again I would've lost the groove I was in. Enjoy!
The second of the covers i've over the past few weeks. I was going to do some vocals, but backed out at the last minute... Anyway, the was played on my Encore Strat and my Dad's old 70's Sattelite Bass { Tags : Club, Foot, Kasabian }
I recently bought "To Record Only Water For Ten Days" and fell in love with it right away. I ended writing this short piece, which I think sounds like a cross between Invisible Movement and Going Inside...
And now for something completely different! I realised this morning that I hadn't recorded anything really new in a while, so I decided to write this little ditty. I was listening to a bit of ska last night, hence the new direction.
