After contemplating what my soul animal would be, I came up with a wolf. They're pretty independant creatures who can live on their own and just roam and be wild, but they'll also live in packs and be very determined to protect what they love. So this poem is entitled "Soul of Wolf" about my envisionment.
"Soul of Wolf"
Dark lit forest trees swing in the wind
The glittering moonlight drips on their
leaves to the floor and the cracks of the grass
A lone wolf dashes across and shatters it,
only for a moment
before it returns
Going only on instinct he chases them down
Tree after tree is all the same, as long
as he avoids them they don't care
Silver lined skin like the sharp mirrored lake
showing him only what they'll ever see
the outside
But the moon tells him otherwise
his sanctuary
He knows where his others are
but they're unaware
He'll meet with them later
For now he just runs.
No matter how he tries
he can't escape how he feels
or what his consequences are
But he runs
and it's all about the here and now
no future thoughts
but that he'll see the moon again
He'll just run for one more day
